# Battery & battery life on new Kardena smartwatches & smart bands

# Battery & Battery Life for new Kardena smartwatches

The battery life of your Kardena smartwatch may still vary during the first few days of use. This is no cause for concern at first.

## 🔋 The battery may only reach its full capacity after a few charging cycles

With a new device, **battery life and the charge level indicator may still fluctuate during the first few charge cycles**.
We therefore recommend letting your smartwatch go through **3 to 10 full charge cycles** first. Each time, the watch should be charged to **100%**.

During this initial period of use, the following may still stabilise:
* the displayed remaining capacity,
* the calculation of remaining battery life, and
* the interaction between the battery and power management

💡 **Note:** A charge cycle doesn't necessarily mean charging the battery from 0% to 100%. Several partial charges can also add up to one full charge cycle.

## ⏱️ Short battery life on a new watch

If your new Kardena smartwatch does not yet achieve the expected battery life during the first few days, we recommend:

1. Charge the watch fully to **100%**.
2. Then use the watch as normal.
3. Charge it fully again.
4. Repeat this over several charge cycles.
5. Only assess the actual battery life after roughly **3 to 10 charge cycles**, if possible.

⚠️ **Important:** It is **not necessary** to intentionally discharge the battery to 0%. Modern lithium batteries do not have the classic memory effect. Frequent complete discharges should in fact be avoided.

## 📱 What affects battery life

The actual runtime of a smartwatch depends heavily on how it's used. Particularly high energy consumption can be caused, for example, by:

* high display brightness
* long display-on time
* a permanently active Bluetooth connection
* frequent notifications
* continuous heart rate and health measurements
* frequent display activation
* GPS usage, if supported by the model
* making calls via the smartwatch
* certain watch faces and background functions

The achievable battery life can therefore vary significantly from user to user.

## 🔄 Tip for an inaccurate battery level display
If, for example, the battery level drops unusually quickly from 100% to a lower value, or changes erratically, this may also be related to how the **charge level is calculated**.

First, carry out a few full charge cycles, then restart the smartwatch.
If the problem persists even after around **10 charge cycles**, or if the battery drains unusually quickly, please contact Kardena Customer Service.

> 💡 **Our Tip:** Don't judge the battery performance of a new Kardena smartwatch based solely on the first one or two charge cycles. Give the watch, battery and charge level indicator a few charge cycles to settle in.
