# Bluetooth connection keeps dropping

# Bluetooth connection to the Kardena smartwatch keeps dropping

Does your Kardena smartwatch connect successfully at first, but then keep losing connection to your smartphone?

The most common cause is your smartphone’s power-saving and background settings.

## Check the following settings

Make sure that:

* Bluetooth is always on,
* the smartwatch stays within Bluetooth range,
* the app is allowed to run in the background,
* battery optimisation for the app is disabled,
* the app is allowed to use Bluetooth or "nearby devices",
* the smartwatch isn't connected to another smartphone at the same time.

## Set up the connection from scratch

If the problem persists:

1. Remove the smartwatch from the app.
2. Remove any existing entries for the smartwatch from your Bluetooth settings.
3. Restart your smartphone and smartwatch.
4. Open the app.
5. Start the device search.
6. Reconnect the smartwatch.

> ⚠️ **Android Users:**
> Some Android smartphones close apps particularly aggressively in the background. Please also check the settings for **battery optimisation, background activity and auto-start**.
> 💡 **Tip:**
> If the connection mainly drops when your smartphone hasn't been used for a while, this often points to one of its power-saving settings.
