# Google Pixel – How to set up your Kardena smartwatch correctly

# Google Pixel – Setting up your Kardena smartwatch correctly

If your Kardena smartwatch doesn't stay reliably connected to a Google Pixel smartphone, you should check the app permissions and battery settings in particular.

Title: Google Pixel – Setting Up Your Kardena Smartwatch Correctly

## 1. Check Bluetooth

Open the Bluetooth settings and make sure Bluetooth is switched on.
The connection to the smartwatch should then be established via the smartwatch app.

## 2. Check app permissions

Go to:
**Settings → Apps → [app you're using] → Permissions**
Check in particular the required permissions for connected devices or nearby devices.

## 3. Check battery usage

Open the app's battery settings.
Check that the app is not restricted to such an extent that it prevents a reliable background connection.

## 4. Check notifications

Grant the app the notification permissions it requires and, if necessary, check its notification access.
Then, within the app, enable the apps you want.

> ⚠️ **Important:**
> If the app doesn't have the required permission for nearby devices or Bluetooth, the connection to the smartwatch may be affected.

## 5. Reconnect the smartwatch

If problems persist:

1. Remove the smartwatch from the app.
2. Remove the device from the existing Bluetooth entries, if present.
3. Restart both devices.
4. Open the app.
5. Reconnect the smartwatch.

> 💡 **Tip:**
> Check the app permissions again after a major Android update. Operating system updates can change settings and permissions.
