# OnePlus, Oppo and Realme – Troubleshooting connection issues

# OnePlus, Oppo and Realme – Connection issues with the Kardena smartwatch

On OnePlus, Oppo and Realme smartphones, power-saving features can restrict the app in the background.
This may interrupt the connection to your Kardena smartwatch.

## Common issues

* the smartwatch keeps losing connection
* WhatsApp or other messages are missing
* syncing only happens when you open the app
* the connection isn't automatically restored after a restart

## 1. Check battery settings

Open the app info for the app you're using.
Check the settings for **Battery**, **Background Activity** and **Battery Optimisation**.
Allow the app to remain active in the background.

## 2. Allow auto-launch

If your smartphone offers a relevant feature, allow the app to auto-launch or run automatically in the background.

## 3. Check permissions

In particular, allow the app to access:

* Bluetooth / nearby devices
* Notifications
* Background activity
* location, if applicable

## 4. Check notification access

Ensure that the app has permission to read notifications andforward them to the smartwatch.

> ℹ️ **Note:**
> The exact menu navigation differs between OxygenOS, ColorOS and Realme UI, as well as between different operating system versions.

## 5. Restart your smartphone and smartwatch

Restart both devices, then open the app.

> 💡 **Tip:**
> If messages are only delivered while the app is open, this is most likely due to a background activity restriction.
