iPhone – Connection issues and missing notifications
iPhone – Troubleshooting connection issues with the Kardena smartwatch
Is your Kardena smartwatch failing to connect properly to your iPhone or not displaying notifications?
Check the following settings.
1. Check Bluetooth
Go to:
Settings → Bluetooth
Make sure Bluetooth is switched on.
Then open the smartwatch app and check the connection status there.
⚠️ Important:
When setting up your smartwatch for the first time, don't connect it directly via the iPhone's Bluetooth menu. Complete the setup using the dedicated app instead.
2. Check the app’s Bluetooth permissions
Open your iPhone's settings and check whether the app you're using is allowed to access Bluetooth.
3. Check notifications
Open:
Settings → Notifications
Make sure that notifications are enabled for the apps you want.
Then, within the smartwatch app, check which apps are set to send notifications to the watch.
4. Check background refresh
Check under:
Settings → General → Background App Refresh
whether background refresh is enabled for the app you're using, provided that the app requires it.
5. Consider focus modes
Active focus modes such as:
- Do Not Disturb
- Sleep
- Work
- custom focus modes
can affect which notifications are shown.
Check, therefore, whether a Focus mode is active.
6. Reconnect the smartwatch completely
If problems persist:
- Remove the smartwatch from the app.
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon next to the existing entry, if present.
- Select Ignore this device.
- Restart your iPhone and smartwatch.
- Open the app.
- Reconnect the smartwatch.
ℹ️ Note:
For Kardena models with Bluetooth phone functionality, additional Bluetooth connections may be required for the phone function, depending on the model.
💡 Tip:
If the smartwatch is connected and synchronising data, but only notifications are missing, you should first check the notification and app permissions.
