Samsung Galaxy – Connection interruptions and missing notifications
Samsung Galaxy – Connection issues with the Kardena smartwatch
Does your Kardena smartwatch regularly lose connection to your Samsung Galaxy smartphone or fail to display notifications?
The Kardena app is often restricted in the background by Samsung’s power-saving features.
ℹ️ Note:
The names and locations of individual settings may vary depending on your Samsung model and the installed One UI version.
1. Check the Bluetooth connection
On your Samsung smartphone, open:
Settings → Connections → Bluetooth
Check that Bluetooth is switched on.
Then open the app for your Kardena smartwatch and check whether the smartwatch is shown as connected there.
⚠️ Important:
Do not connect the smartwatch directly via your smartphone’s Bluetooth menu. The actual device connection should be established via the smartwatch’s dedicated app.
2. Check the app’s battery usage
Open:
Settings → Apps → [app you are using] → Battery
Make sure the app’s background activity isn’t being restricted.
3. Prevent the app from being automatically put into standby mode
Samsung may automatically put rarely used apps into standby or deep standby mode.
Go to:
Settings → Battery → Background usage limits
Check whether the app you are using is listed under Apps in standby or Apps in deep standby.
If necessary, remove the app from these lists.
If available on your device, you can add the app to Never automatically put into standby.
4. Check notifications
Open:
Settings → Apps → [app you are using] → Notifications
Enable the required notifications.
Then check within the app which notifications should be forwarded to the smartwatch.
5. Restart devices
- Restart your Samsung smartphone.
- Restart your Kardena smartwatch.
- Open the app.
- Wait until the connection has been established.
💡 Tip:
If the problem mainly occurs after the smartphone has not been used for a long time, this often indicates that the app is restricted in the background.
